INTRODUCTION Breast cancer is the most common cancer toward the female gender within Australia today (AIHW 2016. This essay will analyse the success of early invention programs in relation to breast cancer, and will advocate strategies to help strengthen community actions and develop personal skills to improve the health outcomes for community members, especially those at greater risk. Early invention programs for breast cancer focus on Mammograms, pap tests, and clinical breast examinations, in order to catch the sickness before severity takes place. These intervention programs are clearly affective in community, as more than 5 in 10 women (54%) aged 50-69 years took part in the Monogramming program in the last two years through Breast Screen Australia (breastScreen Australia 2016). Barriers that may interfere with such programs and their attendance rates include health literacy, cost, advertisement and knowledge/understanding. The term breast cancer represents the process in which abnormal cells in the breast(s) grow uncontrollably. (Cancer Australia 2016) The most common risk factors in relation to breast cancer consist of; being a woman, your family history, age, genetics, personal medical history, radiation, breast changes, ethnicity, weight and pregnancy history. In the year 2015, 15,740 new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed, and 3065 deaths occurred (Breast Screen Australia 2016).
